Politics

1996-1997
Senator
Student Senate
University of Toledo

Applied for and was appointed by the President of Student Government as a Senator.

June 12, 1998
Mayor of Toledo attends Wedding

The Mayor of the City of Toledo, Carleton S. Finkbeiner, attended my wedding. We had over 1000 combined guests, and it was not an election year. Mayor Finkbeiner, the mayor of a town of about 400,000, still found time to attend my wedding. Yes, there was a strong wind advisory that day and tons of tornados all around, yet he managed to show up.

1997-1998
Presidential Candidate
Student Body
University of Toledo

While running for student Government President with Vice-Presidential Candidate Terry Kuhl, was able to garner the second highest voter turnout in University of Toledo history, with 15.9% of the student population voting. Highest turnout in over 50 years. No other election even garnered a 4% turnout.

2000-2001
Speech Writer, Political Strategist
Bryan for Congress Campaign

Volunteered on the staff of Dr. Dwight Bryan D.O. who was running for congress for Ohio's 9th Congressional district. We were up against a 20 year congressional veteran, Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur. Dwight Bryan was well received by crowds at the various functions we attended and drew a lot more applause and standing ovations than his competition. A lot of times this shocked us. He was eventually defeated by a large margin. The Ohio Republican party decided not to give us financial support.

2001-2002
Fundraiser, Political Strategist
Allen Roy for State Representative Campaign

Worked on the Allen Roy for State Representative campaign very closely. Strategized for mail drops, neighborhood walk-throughs, mailers, talking points, and fundraising events. Former White House Chief of Staff, John Sununu attended one of our fund raisers and we were able to raise a significant amount of money.

2001-2002
Fundraiser, Political Strategist
Maggie Thurber for County Commissioner Campaign

In an all Democrat labor town, we were able to catapult Maggie Thurber, a Republican to the county commissioners seat. This was a huge win for the Republican party and was very difficult to accomplish. It was a close race. In a post-September 11, 2001 world, where Muslims were considered "bad guys" by many, Maggie routinely had Muslim women at her side and Muslims carrying her posters. She was at the Mosque almost every weekend and attended all kinds of social functions. During our University of Toledo Rockets, football homecoming, she was flanked by two Muslim women, fully dressed in Muslim outfits, on her convertible, riding around distributing candy to the crowds on the parade route. She was an amazing woman, she took risks that most politicians would have avoided in a post-911 world. It sure paid off.

2001-2002
Public Relations Consultant
Local Charity Group, Toledo, Ohio.

I can not disclose the group that I worked for because the information was sensitive, however it was a large charity organization based in Toledo, Ohio that delivered food to the elderly. I did some consulting work and trained the board of directors and employees on how to effectively handle a crisis situation, should it get out of hand and the media start asking questions. A minor incident with major political ramifications happened at this institution involving petty theft and I was consulted to help with the possible media response and effectively containing the problem.

2002-2006
Presidential Candidate
Student Body
Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine

Every year that I was in medical school, I ran for student body president. I was narrowly defeated each time. Sometimes, so narrowly that they had to have a recount to verify the results. One of the years, I was told I lost by two votes. Our class size was about 170.

1988-present
Presidential Campaign
United States Government

Ever since I received a response to a letter I sent Vice-President George Bush Sr. while President Reagan was in office, I have worked, volunteered, manned phone banks, envelop-stuffed, and campaigned for Republican Presidential candidates. The first campaign I worked for was George Bush Sr. He may have not known I was working for him, but I knew I was.

Since then, I have had more official roles always starting out supporting Forbes for President, because as an economist, I like his flat tax ideas, then end up working for the official nominee whether that be Dole, Bush Jr. In fact, I have every presidential debate since 1998 on VHS tape. I love going back and watching history in the making. I am a huge presidential election buff.
